GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
Chimera™ is interested in original manuscripts concerning US-African relations within the six core areas of governance/diplomacy, health, technology, economics/economic development, education, and culture. Authors may focus on recent original research, replication of research, reviews of research, post-graduate education, or essays on theoretical, organizational, professional, qualitative as well as quantitative issues. Manuscripts should address at least one of the following:
  1. Support for the extension of knowledge in one of the six core areas as outlined above within the context of US-African continent relations, but specifically Sub-Saharan Africa;
  2. Support of increasing sophistication in the discussion of developmental change and the factors contributing hitherto;
  3. Support for practitioner efforts to apply theoretical developmental constructs to programs in the core area; or
  4. Support for increasing information and discussion of organizational, national, and institutional behaviors so that effective strategies and valuable policies might be discussed to the point of initiating positive discussion and changes in US-African relations.
  5. Case studies which further support the importance of educational, cultural, diplomatic, and/or economic exchanges between the regions.
STYLE GUIDELINES
Chimera™ does not restrict writing style and accepts both the international as well as American standards for English. (e.g. programs and programmes.) When preparing a manuscript for publication, the author(s) must adhere to the following guidelines:
  1. Submit a manuscript that is no longer than 8-10 pages (not including title page and abstract,) double spaced, using either Times New Roman or Courier type style in 12 point.
  2. Use titles that are short and descriptive. Place the title on a separate page with the names of the author(s), relevant professional title(s), and institutional affiliation where appropriate.
  3. Include an abstract on the second page.
  4. Only citations referred to in the manuscript should be listed in the references. Check all references before mailing the manuscript to ensure that all sources cited in the text appear in the references and vice versa, and that all references are accurate.
  5. Include illustrative photos, graphics or other relevant visuals of your topic.
  6. Use of acronyms in articles submitted is discouraged unless the full and complete name is included for reader clarity.
  7. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references, quotations, tables, and figures. Authors should make sure these are complete and correct.
  8. Submission of a manuscript indicates the author's agreement to furnish information beyond the actual manuscript. The Managing Editor may request such information in order to assist with the review and editorial process.
  9. All submissions must be forwarded to the USA/Africa Institute electronically via email or the internet.
  10. Once submitted, all materials become the property of Chimera™ and the USA/Africa Institute.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Chimera™ is interested in original manuscripts which stimulate thought and discussion on US-African relations. As such, we prefer that you do not submit manuscripts under consideration by another publication. Authors must sign a statement affirming non-duplication of submission prior to review of their manuscripts. Please submit all documents electronically to: Chimera@USAAFRICA.ORG. The Institute reserves the right to select, reject or edit contributions.
