Sierra Leone Education and Health Care Project
We have executed a Memorandum of Understanding with the appropriate entities in Sierra Leone to develop a long range education program beginning with an emphasis on health care. Sierra Leone has identified the six most pressing health care concerns and we have developed a proactive pilot that represents the best opportunity for tangible improvements in the disease management and education for one of the world's most vulnerable populations. Catalyzing a larger response to renew and improve health education using technology, mobile screening units, localized outreach and comprehensive tracking the model can be used by the country's health and education planners and the rest of the world interested in Africa.
The Florida Professional Volunteer Project
In order to improve educational opportunities and exchanges through training, technical assistance, professional exchange and voluntary resources, The Institute has proposed to conduct sixteen professional exchange missions per year. This will enable Africa based elementary through secondary schools educational organizations achieve their goals for a sustainable local in-service and continuing education program.
Heritage Multicultural Youth Project
The Institute has partnered with the Center for Multicultural Youth to support a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration sponsored program to provide immigrant youth with positive experiences while in transition to their new communities and to help them develop coping skills in order to facilitate adjustment.
